Today we had our reveal day for our 11th Topic which was chosen by Maree T - "TIME". All of the quilts were fabulous and as usual they were even better seeing them up close (rather than by photograph). Well done everyone.
Mary chose our 12th Topic - "STORIES" which is due on 17th June.

Just to let you know the International 12x12 have just revealed their 2nd 20x12 quilts - theme was Maps. A huge variety of quilts. Kirsty from Australia has now chosen their next theme which is "Mythology". It will be really interesting to see the final results of this topic! http://twelveby12.blogspot.co.nz/

Yeah I can officially say that I am finished my "Time" 12x12 quilt! I had nearly finished it, apart from handsewing a few accessories on, 2 weeks ago...however it took some time to find a certain accessory I wanted to add! Thanks to a seller on Trade-me I finally found it and quickly received it in the post. And it ended up being just perfect. Don't know what has happened but I was 4 weeks early in doing my round in a round robin I am doing!! Hopefully I can keep this up as it sure beats stressful last minute sewing & lack of sleep!!! See you all on the 6th May for our reveal day and our topic for our final 12x12!

We had a great get together on Sunday to share our "Texture" 12x12's. I was trying to upload the photos, however there is some sort of error happening so I will retry again later. The quilts were once again varied with everyone being very adventurous with lots of different techniques. Lovely work everyone. Maree T chose our next theme due on 6th May - "TIME", another challenging theme which could head in all sorts of directions!!!

Here is a group photo of our last 12x12 reveal day with our Childhood quilts! Unfortunately my Childhood Alphabet one (3rd across the top) wasn't quite finished in this photo but it is finished in the individual photos! Once again an awesome array of quilts. To actually hold & see these quilts up close is so much better than the photos, and of course we get to hear how each one is made and why!! Well done everyone!

Texture is definitely one of those topics that you could do endless things with! Initially I wasn't so keen until I saw this website http://www.caroltaylorquilts.com. Wow under her Arc-i-texture! gallery Carol has so many fabulous quilts with amazing colours!! In my search to maybe use some of her ideas I then came across a lovely lady who does art journals, lettering etc and draws/paints amazing pictures! She had drawn these really cool flowers which I thought would look great instead of spirals. So yesterday I emailed her and she has given me permission to use her flowers in a quilt. I need to send her a pic when it is done so the pressure is on!!! Hopefully I can do them justice!! So after being really excited seeing Carol's work, I have now gone off in a completely different direction....My Childhood 12x12 from last time is now finished so that's a relief!!

"Texture" has opened my eyes to things I took for granted. The plane tree in our garden has the most beautiful bark peeling off in layers. The cheese grater has ferocious texture. The gum emporer moth on the pepper tree has fierce little bits that poke out all along her body. The tile roof across the road has changing patterns depending on the angle at which you look at it. Mmmmmmm.
